A northern Florida man is facing charges after he allegedly sent a lewd photo to a teenage girl in Palm Beach County.
Deputies arrested Jeff C. Williamson, 45, on charges of soliciting a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. Authorities say that Williamson, who lives in the unincorporated Suwanee County community of Wellborn, made contact with a high-school age girl via Facebook in July.
The girl told authorities that Williamson used the site to tag her in a photo and to send her direct messages. Williamson allegedly asked the girl to send him photos similar to ones she had shared with her boyfriend. He then sent the girl a picture of himself exposed, the sheriff’s office said.
The girl discontinued the chat and reported it to authorities. In August, an investigator from the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force tracked Williamson’s Facebook profile to his employer in Lake City, then to his home in Wellborn.
On Sept. 8, a Palm Beach County deputy traveled to north Florida to meet Williamson at his home. He allegedly admitted to sending the photo, saying to the deputy, “I knew I shouldn’t have but I did anyway.”
He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Saturday and released Sunday on $50,000 bail.
