A Belle Glade woman allegedly attacked her daughter’s father with scissors and then asked the daughter to assist by grabbing a gun, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Police responded at about 6 p.m. Sunday to a domestic disturbance call at the Pahokee Food Market on Belle Glade Road. They found a man covering his arm with a bandanna who said Alkechia Allen, 37, cut him with a pair of scissors.
The man told officers he was dropping off his 18-year-old daughter off with Allen at a house nearby when she started to argue with him for “talking to other women,” the police report said. As the argument escalated, Allen reached into her purse, grabbed a pair of scissors, and swung it at the victim, according to the report.
When the victim tried to take the scissors out of her hands, Allen cut him on the arm and fingers. Allen then asked her daughter to go grab “that thing” from the house, which turned out to be a gun, police said.
The daughter handed her mother the gun, and Allen tried to hit the victim with it once she learned the gun was not loaded, the report said. The victim said he was able to take the gun away from Allen before getting hit and handed it back to their daughter.
The victim then told police he drove with Allen to the food market to call 911. Allen fled the scene on foot but was found nearby and arrested by police on charges of aggravated battery.
