Jerome Misner, 31, was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief for stealing a woman’s ATV from her yard in The Acreage. Misner is being held on $36,000 bond in PBSO’s West Detention Center.

The victim’s video-surveillance footage showed two men jumping over her fence in the pre-dawn hours Monday wearing long-sleeved shirts and reflective masks with night-vision cameras, according to a probable-cause affidavit made public Thursday. The men cut the locks on her gate but the opening wasn’t big enough to push the ATV through. The suspects then pulled the fencing out of the ground to make the opening bigger and got the ATV out.

The ATV was equipped with a GPS device, and detectives were able to track the vehicle to an address nearby. The person living in the home said Misner had been staying there and sleeping on the couch, the affidavit said.

Misner explained, without prompting, that he bought the ATV off the street for $250, the affidavit said. After a search, the detective found Misner’s reflective mask in a closet and the ATV in the garage.

After Misner was arrested, he said again that he bought the ATV for $250, but admitted to the theft once confronted with the GPS evidence, the affidavit said. Misner did not identify the other person.
