Claudio Piras told deputies he was on his 42-foot sailboat along the Intracoastal Waterway, just east of State Road A1A and west of John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, when three teens wakeboarding nearby. He said the teens were causing waves that were rocking his boat, according to the report.
The teens told investigators they noticed Piras yelling and taking photos of them, so they approached him to see what was going on. The teens said Piras yelled at them for causing a big wave and they yelled back saying they weren’t breaking any law, according to the report.
Then Piras allegedly pulled out a gun and waved it at the group. Piras told deputies he did pull out his gun, but did not point it at the teens. Piras told deputies he had two more guns on his person.
The Fort Lauderdale man remains in the Palm Beach County jail on $3,000 bail on two charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Piras does not appear to have any other criminal charges in Broward or Palm Beach county, according to court records.
