Palm Springs police say a 53-year-old man threatened to break a woman’s neck with karate and set her on fire because she wouldn’t help him with his cellphone.
Efrain Feliciano faces charges of aggravated assault and battery. On Tuesday, a judge ordered Feliciano be held without bail as he undergoes a mental health evaluation.
On Monday, investigators say Feliciano threatened to break the neck of a 57-year-old woman because she wouldn’t help him with his cellphone. Feliciano allegedly reminded her that he was a black belt in karate, then tried to stop her from leaving the residence. The woman told police as she tried to leave he held her, opened a gas can and said he would light her on fire.
The woman said she was able to escape to a neighbor and call police, according to the report. The relationship between the two was not released in the report.
When officers went to arrest the 53-year-old man, they asked if he had any weapons on him. He said he didn’t need any because he was a black belt, according to the police report.
Feliciano does not have any other arrests in Palm Beach County, according to court records.
