A Boca Raton man accused of stealing more than $6,000 in jewelry from a former roommate eluded arrest for nearly a year before being taken into custody, city police said.
Preston Isaacson, 25, was arrested Wednesday night for fraud and dealing in stolen property. He is being held on $26,000 bond.
The incident occurred in September, when the 58-year-old victim, who had rented a room to Isaacson, asked him to move out.
Police tried to contact Isaacson but had no luck. A look into records at CitiPawn in Boca Raton showed that Isaacson had multiple transactions that included jewelry.
The victim told police that Isaacson had tried to steal their other roommate’s computer, and believed that he was responsible for taking the jewelry that he had pawned. She was able to confirm the pieces of jewelry were hers.
Isaacson was arrested in 2013 for petit theft from a car and served two days in jail.
