A 20-year-old suburban West Palm Beach man attacked a seven-months pregnant woman Monday, sending her into premature labor, authorities said.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jerry Joel Roman on one count each of aggravated domestic battery and tampering with a witness. He remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $8,000 bail.

The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, the sheriff’s office said.

An arrest report made public Tuesday does not specify Roman’s relationship to the 20-year-old woman. The report does not list the woman’s name, or give any information regarding her condition or the baby’s.

At Wellington Regional Medical Center, the woman reportedly told investigators Roman attacked her during an argument about missing drugs and money.

Authorities say the attack occurred at a house in 3900 block of Westgate Avenue. Roman  smashed the woman’s cellphone when she tried to call 911,  and pushed her after she ran out of the house, according to the arrest report.

Paramedics called to the scene immediately rushed the woman to the hospital.
