A South Bay man broke into the home of a Belle Glade woman, who authorities described as having a a disability, then beat and robbed her, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says.
Late Sunday, Zitavious Strawder, 32, aggressively trailed the 34-year-old woman through the back of her home, according to his arrest report. She tried to get inside her home before he could reach her, but her condition wouldn’t allow it, detectives say. They did not detail her condition.
Stawder allegedly pushed the woman, slamming her face against a wall and causing a cut on her lip. He then stood over her and attempted to choke her, according to the report.
He snatched her purse, with $75 inside, and fled to an awaiting white truck, the woman told police.
Strawder was caught by detectives Wednesday. He faces charges of home invasion, burglary with battery and battery by strangulation.
Strawder is on five years of probation stemming from 2014 charges of marijuana sale or manufacture and carrying a concealed weapon, prison records show. He appeared in court Thursday morning for a bond hearing in which the judge ordered he be held without bail until his case is tried.
