A 19-year-old Belle Glade woman stabbed a 31-year-old man in the hand with a knife and struck him in the back of the head with a carving fork after he told her he wanted to “reconnect with his wife,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Tamiya A’shanti Hobbs faces a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was released from the Palm Beach County Jail under court supervision Monday afternoon.

Hobbs and the victim’s relationship was not detailed in an arrest report released Monday, but investigators say the argument began Sunday afternoon while they were wrestling while lying in bed. The man told deputies he told Hobbs he wanted to resume his relationship with his wife, which sparked a violent reaction from Hobbs, who threw furniture and yelled.

A neighbor witnessed Hobbs throw the man out of her home, then open the door and stab him in the hand, according to the arrest report. Hobbs later told investigators she threw a carving fork at the back of the man’s head.

The man was taken to a Glades-area hospital for treatment.
