A 19-year-old North Palm Beach man is facing charges after he allegedly struck another man in the face with a rust-colored revolver Wednesday night.

Police arrested Antonio Cuoco on charges of aggravated battery and tampering with evidence. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Thursday and released later in the day after posting $18,000 bail.

His arrest came after police investigated a reported attack at a house in the 900 block of Prosperity Farms Road. The accuser told officers he was having an argument with another man when Cuoco came into a room carrying a gun.

The accuser said he tried to leave when Cuoco followed him outside and hit him with the revolver. Witnesses told police the 20-year-old accuser had come to the house uninvited. Cuoco reportedly told officers the man showed up acting strangely.

Cuoco said he and a friend were leaving the residence when they heard yelling. Cuoco reportedly told officers he went back inside and picked up the gun after seeing a friend and the 20-year-old push each other. He admitted to then striking the 20-year-old with the weapon, police said.

He went to his house and buried the weapon in his backyard because he was afraid he would get in trouble, police said. Officers recovered a .22-caliber Ruger buried in the dirt, the arrest report said.
