PBSO: Lake Worth man duct-taped boy, beat him with hammer

A Lake Worth man bound a boy’s arms and legs with duct tape, then beat him with a hammer and whipped him with a computer cable, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Claude Millien, 30, was arrested Tuesday and faces a child abuse charge. He remained at the Palm Beach County Jail late Wednesday after a judge set his bond at $5,000 that morning.

The Florida Department of Children and Families received two tips that Millien was physically abusing a 9-year-old boy. The report does not specify their relationship.

The boy told investigators that Millien duct-taped his hands and feet together, then hit him in the face with the hammer, causing visible bruises, the arrest report said. Millien also whipped the boy with a high-definition media cable, deputies say.

A woman who cares for the boy noticed the bruises and contacted Millien. He texted the woman admitting to beating the boy with the wooden end of a hammer and punching him in the face because “he kept fighting back,” the report says.

Millien, who was convicted of possession of cocaine in 2015, is facing sale-of-cocaine charges in Palm Beach County, court records show. He was arrested Jan. 24 on charges that he was selling or intent to sell cocaine within 1,000 feet of a place of worship.
