After Raul Torres Guzman’s arrest last week for breaking into a home and exposing himself to an officer, the 46-ear-hold man ripped off his shirt and tried to eat it while in a Jupiter holding cell, town police report.

Guzman racked up a long list of charges Wednesday, including battery on an officer, indecent exposure and criminal mischief, according to a report made public Friday.

Just after 3 a.m. Thursday, a Jupiter man found Guzman rummaging through his belongings inside his home near the Loxahatchee River, an arrest report describes. Guzman broke in through the back door and woke the man. He broke a lamp and smashed a neon sign before darting out of the home, the victim told police.

An officer later spotted Guzman near the railroad tracks at Alternate State Road A1A and Center Street. Guzman exposed himself to an officer before he was arrested, the police report said.

Guzman was taken to the Jupiter Police Department. Inside the holding cell, he took off his clothes and began masturbating in front of officers, police say.

He tore off his shirt and started eating it, according to the report.

When officers tried entering the cell, Guzman took a “white rock” out of his mouth and tried to hide it in his pocket, police say. An officer tried removing the rock, and Guzman violently resisted, the report said. He tried biting the officer, snapping his jaw shut any time the officer came near. He also swung his head at the officer as they held him down.

Guzman was cut and bruised in the incident and was taken to Jupiter Medical Center for treatment. After he was cleared, he was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.

On Friday, a judge ordered Guzman have an in-custody mental health evaluation. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing Tuesday.
