A Palm Beach State College student tried stabbing a Florida Atlantic University student in the hallway of a dorm on the Boca Raton campus, Florida Atlantic police say.
Durham Cole Jensen, 18, was arrested Thursday after police say that he made a stabbing motion with a knife and charged at an 18-year-old on Jan. 31. It happened at Indian River Towers, a dorm on the south-central portion of FAU’s campus.
On the second floor of the building, Jensen barged out of a dorm room holding a knife above his head. The victim wrestled Jensen to the ground to avoid being stabbed, the police report says.
Jensen fled, but the incident was captured on surveillance footage and he was later caught by Boca Raton police.
At Jensen’s first appearance in court Friday morning, his attorney, Ian Goldstein, said the alleged victim was banging on Jensen’s girlfriend’s dorm room door and cursing. The police report has no mention of Jensen’s motive in the incident.
Goldstein claimed there was no knife involved.
Judge Joseph Marx set bail at $5,000.
