A Belle Glade man remained in jail Friday night after he allegedly stabbed another man during a fight this week. .
Ruben Luerano, 52, faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon following his arrest on Thursday. He was being held without bail Friday night at the Palm Beach County Jail. The stabbing victim is expected to survive after having surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said.
According to an arrest report made public Friday, Luerano got in argument with a 23-year-old man works for him and was staying at a his home. The arrest report indicates that Luerano is a truck driver.
A witness told sheriff’s deputies that Luerano had been drinking all night and woke the other man who was sleeping on the couch. Luerano poked the man in the head with his finger and demanded that he get up and clean the house.
He reportedly yelled at the man who then stood up and pushed him. Luerano grabbed a knife from the kitchen counter stabbed the other man multiple times, the report said. The stabbing victim reportedly suffered a wound to his left chest that collapsed his lung.
Luerano allegedly told deputies he armed himself as the other man charged at him and the man ran into the knife.
