PBSO: West Palm Beach youth mentor sexually assaulted boy
A West Palm Beach man was arrested Saturday after deputies say he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy, according to an arrest report.
Edwin L. Wesley is facing a charge of sexual assault and was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting a $75,000 bond. Wesley told Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies that he works for Goodwill Industries as a program manager helping youths seeks alternatives to the juvenile detention.
Wesley, 53, picked up the boy after he made a court appearance for unspecified reasons and told the teenager he was being taken for a urine test, the report said. Instead, deputies said, Wesley took the boy to his apartment on the 3700 block of Savoy Lane and performed a sexual act on him.
Wesley allegedly admitted to the assault but told deputies the boy “was the one who initiated the sexual encounter.”
