A Lake Park man remained in jail Wednesday night after he allegedly took part in robbing a group of college students last week.

Boca Raton police arrested Andre Chin Sang, 19, Tuesday in connection with an alleged robbery on Jan. 13. He is facing six counts of strong-arm robbery with a firearm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. He remained at the Palm Beach County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Police say Chin Sang was accompanied by two unidentified men, who ended up robbing an apartment unit located south of Florida Atlantic University’s main campus in Boca Raton. Chin Sang left before the robbery, but had knowledge that it was going to take place, police said.

Police did not say whether any other arrests have been made.

According to an arrest report, a 19-year-old FAU student told police he invited Chin Sang to a gathering that evening at an apartment in the 600 block of Northwest 13th Street. The resident told officers the two men accompanying Chin Sang were unfamiliar to the rest of the group.

Chin Sang appeared to be nervous and at one point said he was going to get something from a car, the alleged victim told police. He never returned. One of the unidentified men walked out of the kitchen holding a handgun, police said. The other took cellphones and wallets and put them in a backpack.

The suspects then fled. Police were able to track one of the stolen phones to the Lake Park area by using the “Find My Phone’ App, the report said.
